The parental holiday playlist is lengthy and seemingly never-ending: birthdays, Christmas, and graduations. The easiest and least expensive one is the first anniversary of your child’s birth.
Here’s the simple to-do list for a child’s first birthday.
- Buy a one-year-old birthday hat. Better yet, draw a “1” on an old ballcap.
- Contact your friends. Tell them it’s a BYOB.
- Get a package of Hostess Cupcakes. Eat one. Stick a candle in the other one.
- Get the camera ready. Light candle. Poke child in the side, so they make a face like blowing out a candle while you blow out the candle. Edit video later.
- Have child eat a cupcake. If that doesn’t happen, then rub cupcake on the face.
- Take a few pictures of the child with the messy face.
- Wipe off the child’s face, change the diaper, and place infant into their crib.
- Open the BYOB.
Enjoy the first birthday. It’s the last holiday before your kid’s expectations gene takes over.
